An approach, not an industry.

Most important decisions are made with incomplete information. Our work is to make the gaps visible, and the reasoning sound.

Who we are

Stratus is a broad-field practice working across strategy, research, analytics, finance, artificial intelligence and technology.

We bring patient, rigorous thinking to questions where the stakes are high and the evidence is imperfect. We prefer clear reasoning to noise, and conclusions that can be tested by the people who rely on them. The practice is not defined by one industry. Each engagement draws on the disciplines the question requires.

Principles

  1. Plain language

Conclusions are written so that they can be read, questioned and acted on.

  2. Stated assumptions

What a result depends on is set out beside the result itself.

  3. Reasoning to check

Analysis is built so that others can follow it and challenge it.

Method

An unhurried method, built to be checked.

Good analysis is patient, transparent about its assumptions, and designed so that others can challenge it.

  1. Frame

Agree what is being decided, and what would change the answer.

  2. Gather

Combine research, data and expert judgement, with their limits stated.

  3. Test

Stress the assumptions and show where the conclusion is sensitive.

  4. Hand over

Deliver a recommendation your team can act on, and verify for itself.
